Cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM), an innovative technology that won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, has rapidly advanced worldwide, ushering in a new era of structural biology.
In our laboratory, we directly manage and operate various state-of-the-art instruments, including Cryo-EM, to analyze biomolecules, protein complexes, and cellular structures at high resolution.
We also utilize AI-powered structural analysis techniques to elucidate the relationship between structure and function at the molecular level, while conducting research on the development of electron microscopy methods and advanced imaging analysis technologies.
We conduct research using cutting-edge technologies in the fields of structural biology, bioimaging, and drug development, focusing on high-resolution analysis of protein and intracellular structures and elucidation of their functional mechanisms.
Through this, we aim to discover drug targets, study disease mechanisms, analyze the structures of viruses and microorganisms, and promote innovative findings in the life sciences.
We are conducting research to enable more precise and efficient structural analysis through the development of Cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM) analysis methods.
Cryo-EM is a powerful tool that can visualize the 3D structures of biomolecules at high resolution, but continuous advancements are needed to overcome various technical limitations that arise during data acquisition and analysis.
In particular, we are developing optimal Cryo-EM analysis techniques for various applications, including high-resolution protein structure analysis, intracellular complex studies, and microcrystal electron diffraction (Micro-ED), and we experimentally validate new analytical methods to ensure their applicability in actual research.
We provide a systematic education and research environment to enable students and researchers to grow into Cryo-EM experts.
Cryo-EM is a powerful tool that can analyze protein complexes, viruses, and cellular structures at the atomic level, and effective utilization requires in-depth understanding and hands-on experience in the entire process, from sample preparation, data acquisition, image processing, and 3D reconstruction to result interpretation.
In our laboratory, we offer step-by-step education and practical training to systematically acquire these research skills, guiding students to independently solve problems and develop new technologies as researchers.
